UNANIMOUS REJECTION OF PLANNING PERMISSION - COMMON SENSE PREVAILS
At a meeting at the Princes Theatre, Clacton-on-Sea, Members of the Development Control Committee of Tendring District Council have voted UNANIMOUSLY (16 votes to Nil) to oppose a project to install five 125m (410ft) high industrial wind turbines in a rural location at Earls Hall Farm, on the edge of Clacton-on-Sea. STAPLE would like to thank all its many local supporters, those who have campaigned tirelessly to fight this inappropriately sited industrial wind power station, as well as those who attended the special meeting on 19th June. The first battle has been won, but there is no room for complacency, since Npower Renewables, the developer of the Earls Hall Farm project, has the option to appeal.
Some 16 months after Npower applied for planning permission for the five turbines at Earl’s Hall Farm, on 11th June, the Planning Officers of Tendring District Council had earlier arrived at their conclusions. The report (see copy in link) states that “… there are no individual or collective clear-cut and overriding reasons to refuse planning permission”.
STAPLE had been disappointed that the Planners have decided to ignore the very strong case against the wind power station at Earl’s Hall Farm, and is delighted that Councillors on the Development Control Committee have now exercised judgement at the Special Meeting on 19th June, and have recognised the potentially negative consequences of letting the project go ahead.
