WHAT TO DO
Let's act now before it's too late
WRITE to the Planning Officer, Mr Derek Walker, at Tendring District Council, Council Offices, Thorpe Road, Weeley, Essex CO16 9AJ, making explicit reference to planning application number 07/00433/FUL. If you want to write by email, the address of the Planning Officer is: dwalker@tendringdc.gov.uk. You should underline your concerns about the damage to the local environment, visual impact, noise disturbance and general impact on residential amenity. In addition, there are other issues relating to the Clacton airfield, which could have safety and economic viability concerns if the project goes ahead. Try, where possible, to avoid standard letters, but make the effort to show in what specific way you may be affected. The Council will treat the same standard letter as ONE letter of opposition, even if it comes from numerous different sources.
ASK the power company what incremental efforts IT is making to the Carbon Emissions Reduction Target (CERT) formerly known as the Energy Efficiency Committment (EEC), to encourage REDUCTION in consumption. Under the Energy Efficiency Commitment (EEC), electricity and gas suppliers are required to achieve targets for the promotion of improvements in domestic energy efficiency. The EEC contributes to the Climate Change Programme by cutting greenhouse gas emissions.
LOBBY your MP's in North Essex and Harwich & Clacton to call for a level playing field for noise standards, with a review of the lenient and out of date standard that applies exclusively to wind farms.
JOIN the Talk Clacton blog at www.talkclacton.com and have your say. There is also a wind turbine poll running, so make your vote count.
DOWNLOAD the posters and display them in your windows and cars to show your opposition to the wind farm. The posters can be downloaded from this page.
